What is the West Pole?

Whatever the force that draws us to the outdoors – it’s a strong one. It may be different for each of us, but it lives in all of us. It may be the feeling you get when you hear the tires leave the pavement and you reach the gravel road. The release you feel when your boots hit the ground at the ranch after a long week stuck in the office. For many, it is the excitement or anticipation of an upcoming hunt, dreaming of the big one. It may be reconnecting with yourself peacefully outdoors, enjoying a sunset with a glass of wine or walking through a field full of bluebonnets. Some find it in the satisfaction of a hard day’s work, accomplishing needed chores around the ranch. Maybe it’s being the cowboy you always dreamed of or time with friends around a campfire on a crisp night with a few tall tales thrown in. More importantly, what if it’s making a lifelong memory for a young person while enjoying God’s great outdoors on a first hunt. Yes, it may be different for each of us, but it is in all of us. The mysterious magnetic pull of the North Pole always causes the compass needle to point North, so the force inside of us pulling us towards adventure. That’s what we call the West Pole.
